Originally for this project I chose Redwood National Park, but then, due to doubling up on that particular park I changed! For my National Park Project, I chose to build a site for Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. The main reason I chose this park is because I felt that it didn't have much of a site - and with so many attractions and beautiful areas, I felt that it needed to be better represented among national parks on the internet!

The Cardboard Community Conspiracy

For project three, I am interested in creating an online resource for a "fake" estoteric society. I want to create a site that somewhat tricks people into believing there is a community where people rely on just cardboard and hot glue for construction of every object in their homes!While creating this type of lifestyle is only partly possible, i think it is a fun way to spark people's imagination for creating as many different types of cardboard objects as they can. I am attracted to this type of art, but found there isn't really a site that leads you to a mass amount of cardboard pieces. The site will be based upon showcasing other "cardboard sculptors'" work on the site, then eventually allowing visitors to the site to create their own work, take a picture, andupload it to the site. Through this process, we can all view, create, and share all of our cardboard scuptures!

Amie Farley Project 3

So this is what I have so far. Its called the music challenge

I love music, underground music specifically. From the fairly obvious heavy metal that originates from europe and skandinavia in general, to independent hip hop artist that have actually become underground legends in their own right simply for the fact that they have their own record label to which they can choose to sign any talent they wish. After much deliberation I finally came to the idea of a user editable, similar to wikipedia, user interface where registered users can find/add/update info and music stylings of artist and bands that they wouldn't normal just hear info for on the radio or read it in the local newspaper. I am still working on the name of it though.

I only have the main page because after seeing the "spry menu" demo I'm thinking it would work much better as a single page with just the live or editable content inside the user interface itself, it would slide up and the info under the button you click would drop down. Basically the interface in the center and everything else, wouldn't change, just the content inside.

Tom Quiroz, Project 3

Considering the state of world, various addictions and depression are leading contributors to widespread unhappiness. Seeing first-hand the difficulties among people close to me, I hope to help out with a web-interface that may prove very useful to those struggling. Even if you are not having serious problems related to addiction and/or depression, it may be good to see what can help should you happen to have people in your life that do have such challenges.

Project 3: Interactive website

For my third project, I am thinking of having a site that uses interactivity with food. I love cooking, and I am vegan, so I think I will incorporate that into the site. I would have a list of ingredients that are cheap and available in most areas. These could be thought of by me, or submitted by anyone. Then I will use a random generator to generate 3 ingredients and use those choices to come up with recipes (kind of like Iron Chef) and post the recipe and photos on the site once a week. I think it would be fun to have people comment on the photos and recipes, and leave their opinions on the recipe if they tried it. I also think it would be fun for people to submit ideas on replacements for meat recipes, like turning Chicken Parmesan into Eggplant or Tofu Parmesan.

As human beings we think it is our job to control everything around us including the landscape. I find it interesting that indeed the opposite is true. The landscape controls us. It dictates how we dress, what recreational activities we are involved in, where we live, etc. I think it’s interesting that everyone can relate to each other when it comes to landscape. Beautiful landscape pictures are the most overused cliché kind of photography there is, but the reason they are cliché is because people like these and we begin to see them over and over again. These landscape photos appeal to the masses and this interests me. For this project I want to organize the landscape digitally. I will do this by making a world out of small landscape photos. These will be collaborative photos from flickr. People will be able to have their work shown a long with having their stamp on the world conceptually as well as physically. It will also allow people to show their work, collaborate with other artists, build a fictitious romanticized landscape, and look at some great photography.
